Don’t Duck The Issue Swim was a “Spectacular Success”


It was a strange setting to showcase an urban homelessness project but the method in Don't Duck the Issue's madness paid dividends in a beautiful Lakeland arena on Saturday. 65 brave souls squeezed into neoprene and braved the chilly waters of Windermere to try and raise £25k to run a shelter which opens soon on Portland street in Lancaster.

“Don’t Duck The Issue” Event all set for Saturday!

On Saturday morning over 60 people will plunge into the icy waters of Lake Windermere and swim 1.5km in order to rescue 120 giant rubber ducks. Why? YMCA Lancaster’s Don’t Duck The Issue team are trying to raise awareness about the fact that there are 120 under 18’s are sleeping rough in the Lancaster & Morecambe area.

Older Homeless Help Rescue Younger Homeless By Joining in Local Fundraising Campaign

Older and more mature homeless people in Lancaster and Morecambe are joining a local campaign called “Don’t Duck the Issue” to help younger homeless people in Lancaster and Morecambe out of a desperate situation.  This surprising support comes in the form of a homeless couple signing up to participate in a fundraising swim on Lake Windermere Swim on 20th October.


Charity seeks swimmers to rescue ducks

A charity is desperately seeking 100 people to swim across lake Windermere on the 20th October to rescue 120 giant rubber ducks for their "Don't Duck The Issue Campaign".

LANCASTER'S homelessness problem is being taken to the heart of the Lake District - by more than 100 extra large rubber ducks.

The city's Don't Duck the Issue' team are aiming to coax neoprene clad swimmers into the waters of Lake Windermere to retrieve the floating toys from a pontoon 750 metres from the shore.
